Last night the inaugural Global Triathlon Awards took place in Nice, France.
Gustav Iden came away with the Male Athlete of the Year prize. The gong rewarded a brilliant season in which he won the most recent Ironman world championships.
Meanwhile, Flora Duffy flew the flag for short course triathlon as she won the Female Athlete of the Year prize.
In 2022, Duffy won her fourth world title and won the last two WTCS races of the season, in Bermuda and Abu Dhabi, in style.
The Rookie of the Year prize was awarded to Chelsea Sodaro. This prize was one perhaps one of the easier to anticipate. Sodaro had a brilliant year in which she won the Ironman world championships at her first attempt. Indeed, she only made her debut over the distance in 2022.
