Tom Richard The Latest Athlete To Join Saint-Raphaël Set-Up

After a successful 2023, Tom Richard has revealed that he will be making a change in his coaching set-up.

The French athlete enjoyed an impressive season, logging finishes of 7th and 12th at WTCS Sunderland and WTCS Pontevedra, respectively. In doing so, he sealed his right to start for France at WTCS races in 2024. He also added finishes of 17th at WTCS Hamburg and 18th at WTCS Cagliari en route to finishing 22nd overall in the Series.

Alongside his season best WTCS finish in Sunderland, Richard was a part of France’s gold medal-winning Mixed Team Relay at the same event. Towards the end of the year, he then capped his efforts with a 7th place at the Tangier World Cup before finishing 4th at the Rome World Cup.

On the French Grand Prix front, Richard brought home valuable finishes of 8th, 7th and 7th for Poissy Triathlon as they finished 2nd overall in the men’s standings.

After five years in Grenoble with Cercle Performance, he will now be moving on to Saint-Raphaël. Richard noted that when he arrived in Grenoble, he was ranked outside the top-150 in the world and faced a struggle to get onto European Cup start lists. His situation now is significantly rosier. For that he thanked his coach, Julian Pousson.

In Saint-Raphaël, Richard will be a part of an ever-growing group of French stars. Leonie Periault made the switch to Saint-Raphaël at the start of the season while Sandra Dodet likewise moved to the same spot.

With the likes of Leo Bergere, Emma Lombardi, Paul Georgenthum, Mathilde Gautier and more counting Saint-Raphaël as their training home, it has become one of the places to be on the French triathlon scene.

That being said, Grenoble will still count plenty of talent in its group, including the 2023 men’s world champion, Dorian Coninx.
