Following the end of the WTCS season, many of the world’s best triathletes are enjoying their off-seasons (albeit one that is later than usual).
Rest is a vital part of any training programme. Here you can check out how some of the athletes have enjoyed their time off.
Remember: if the best in the world can take time to recharge their batteries, you can too.
Miriam Casillas Garcia went to Japan after a breakout season with training partner and expert tour guide Yuko Takahashi.
Taylor Spivey spent time in the UK following the WTCS Final in Abu Dhabi.
Vasco Vilaca took his time off in Sweden.
After a maiden WTCS medal in Bermuda, Roberto Sanchez Mantecon holidayed in Costa Rica
On the other end of the weather spectrum, Beth Potter stayed in Scotland.
Several athletes opted to stay in the Middle East after Abu Dhabi for a holiday. Anabel Knoll was one of them. After her best season yet, she took time off in Oman.
After a season in which she raced for Luxembourg for the first time, Jeanne Lehair also went to Oman.
Michele Sarzilla took his off-season in Cuba.
Meanwhile, world champion Flora Duffy took time off in home surroundings in Bermuda.
The other theme from off-season so far has been off-road cycling.
Jelle Geens was one such athlete to already dust off his gravel bike.
Similarly, Maya Kingma stayed in the Netherlands for “MTB rides, winter shoes, hot chocolate stops, even more dog walks & cuddles and spending time with family & friends”.
The very best way of spending an off-season, though, may have been discovered by Charlotte McShane. Two weeks of no exercise and plenty of donuts!
