WTCS medallist Annika Koch has found her new home in the Bundesliga.
After her previous team, women’s champions EJOT-Team TV Buschhütten, folded at the end of the 2023 season, Koch was forced to search for a new team. She had ended the 2023 campaign on a high having won the final round in Hannover.
It has now been revealed that Koch will be starting for triathlon.one Witten this year.
Although they enjoyed a difficult season last year, Witten have previously contended for the overall podium in the series. Koch brings race-winning potential to the team and will be able to work alongside fellow WTCS athletes Anabel Knoll and Marlene Gomez-Göggel.
Elsewhere, Til Kramp, formerly of EJOT-Team TV Buschhütten, has signed with PSD Bank Tri Post Trier. Trier finished 5th overall in the men’s competition although depth proved an issue. For example, without their star names they slipped to 13th in the second event in Schliersee. The signing of Kramp should thus bolster the team’s depth in the 2024 season.
“I hope that we will be more consistent in the coming season,” said the Trier team leader Marc Pschebizin. “The top-5 in the overall standings are definitely the goal again.”
One of Trier’s rivals, Team Berlin, have also strengthened with the additions of Justus Töpper and Magnus Männer. Töpper swtiched from Potsdam while Männer made the jump from from Süßen.
Finally, Sparda-Bank Team Hagen has three new faces. The Italian pair Alice Alessandri and Chiara Cocchi will be starting under Hagen colours, as will Laura Holánszky. Notably, Alessandri competed at the World Junior Championships and European Junior Championships last summer, finishing 24th and 16th, respectively.
