In warm conditions, with wetsuits not permitted and the air temperature hovering in the mid-twenties (Celsius), a pair of tough races unfolded. Who Had The Fastest Splits At The Wollongong World Cup?

Swim Sophie Howell and Emma Jeffcoat shared the top split of the day as they emerged in 8:37. One interesting point was just how much faster the sea swim was in Wollongong than at the Napier World Cup earlier in the year. In Napier, the top women’s time was a 9:54, highlighting the dramatic effect conditions and wearing a wetsuit (and possibly course measurement) can have on the eventual times. The next quickest women were Sian Rainsley and Tara Sosinksi. They completed the 750m in 8:40 while Tereza Zimovjanova was…

Tara Sosinski and Sian Rainsley, the winner of the Hong Kong World Cup, then followed a few seconds…

The first major item is that WTCS Montreal, originally due to take place in September, has been cancelled. Delays in funding approvals for the local organising committee have been raised as a cause of the switch. The cancellation of Montreal is particularly ill-timed as it comes on the back of the abandonment of WTCS Abu Dhabi in March. As such, two of the six…
